Today hasn't been a good day. All I've been thinking about is how sad I felt when I had to say goodbye to one of my best friends, my brother from India, Shardool. Being stranded downtown today brought an overwhelming sense of loneliness and gave me too much time to think. To think of going home and having to say goodbye to more people who have become my friends and family here in Brasil. Everyday that passes is one less day I have left here in paradise. Everyone that I have met here has affected me in some way or another. Some of you have become so close to me that we've become one mind. Ale, minha mexicana, keeps telling us to stop being sad because it's over but to be happy that it happened. I have honestly tried to keep that in the back of my mind as my outlook for the next little while but I can't seem to forget about how painfull it was having to say goodbye to someone I love so much yesterday.
Beijos pra tudo mundo. EU AMO VCS!!!!

Tattoos of memories and dead skin on trial...
"Tattoos of memories and dead skin on trial.
For what it's worth, it was worth all the while.
It's something unpredictable, but in the end it's right.
I hope you had the time of your life."
Well everyone, I'm so sorry it's taken me a while to get this on here but I've been a little afraid to post it. Two Tuesdays ago I walked into a Tattoo studio and decided that it was time to get a tattoo done. I walked in there completely nervous and questioning if I were doing the right thing. Ale, my dear Mexicana, had planned on getting her belly button pierced and was a nervous wreck and there I was calming her down with my "brave" outlook on the subject. Of course, when convincing someone else to do something you're able to give them encouragement and bravery but when it came to trying to convice myself, the tables turned 360º. As I walked into the white-walled, sterile smelling room, I held Ale's hand, being there for her as she conquered a fear of needles. The needle went through and an overwhelming sense of nervousness flew through me and I started crying. Now I was more nervous than ever. With the help of a few friends I calmed down and the time came. I marched down the aisle to another one of those creepy rooms and made myself comfortable. The tattooist, Cacau, talked to me while he was getting everything prepared, making me calmer and more ready by the second. With everything laid out, he went and called Ale and Erin, my amazing support team. I had Erin holding my left hand and Ale holding my right, it was time to start. Cacau lifted the tool, the buzzing began, and I was holding onto those hands like there was no tomorrow. He then began the 45-minute process of making my international butterfly a part of me. Though it did hurt a lot, I don't regret doing it one bit. I actually surprised myself as to how brave I had been. Not once did I shed a tear, only a few songs were sung that consisted of "ai, ai, ai, ai" and "oh my god, oh my god, oh my god!"
It was another moment to add to my list of times in my life where bravery won over fright this year. Thank you to Ale and Erin for being there with me...Valeu meninas!!!

São Paulo with Edu!!!!
First of all I'd like to say: HAPPY 10 MONTHS TO ME!!!! Some of you may know that I went to São Paulo 2 weeks ago and now I'm back. I spent 2 weeks with Edu and his family. Edu is a friend of mine who was in TBay last year on an exchange. It's crazy because we only talked to eachother once in TBay (fault of no one *cough* Lysh *cough*). Anywho, while I was there I went to 25 de março, which is a popular street to buy cheap things, Avenida Paulista, which is a famous street where basically all of São Paulo's economy is taken care of, I also went to a few malls, and of course I can't forget the bar and club. While I was there I also got to go to Edu's cursinho (school to study for vestibular) on Avenida Paulista, Vanessa's (Edu's sister) uni Mackenzie, and Dani's (other sister) uni as well. One night I even put my cooking skills to work and made pancakes for the family. Of course they LOVED them!! I also had the pleasure of meeting a lot of great people. *Hope you guys never forget me*
So that was my 2 weeks in São Paulo, doesn't sound like much but when you're with incredible people you have fun no matter what you do!!!

An attempt at a "Canadian" meal!
Everyone had been bugging me for a while to make something "Canadian" for them. So I decided to finally let go and use the Campbell Mushroom soup my mom had sent me ages ago. I talked to some of my friends and invited them over to have a little taste of what I eat back home. I was off to start making my mom's brocolli-rice casserole when I realized, I don't know how to make rice. I called Gu over and asked him, very politely, if he could give me hand and perhaps "teach" me how to make rice. Well he ended making it and although I tried reallyhard to pay attention, I think I'll need a tutor the next I try to make it as well. Anywho, I made the rice and everyone loved it, or at least they said they did. After having a successful respond from the crowd I decided that an attempt at making brownies might not be so bad. Gu and I got the ingredients together and started putting the batter together, quite easy if I do say so myself. We were all ready and pretty confident that these would be a hit too, so we stuck them in the oven and waited patiently for the turn out. After some time the timer went off and we opened the oven to see that the chewy, moist brownies we were hoping for turned into flat, gooey "brownies". Well at least the rice turned out, right...It was a really nice night and a great way to be able to spend time with my friends. LOVE YOU GUYS!!!

VIBE!!!
Today we all got together at Erin's house for a churrasco (BBQ). It was an American celebration because her parents and brother were down from Washington. It was a lot fun having everyone together, helping Erin show her parents and brother how her life is like here in MarÃlia. It was also a chance for some of our friends from another town to come and hang out too. Fernando (Mexico), Sabrina (fellow Canadian) and Deb (Australian, who I actually met for the first time here). Last night we all had the chance to meet at Barraco and show Erin's brother, Rob, how things are here. Gu pointed out that it's funny how we, the exchange students, always have the urge to speak in English whenever we're together but now because we HAD to speak in English for Rob all we did was speak in Portuguese. Anywho, this night we gathered once more at a rave called Vibe! It was a lot of fun and these pictures were taken by Deb or with Deb's camera...thanks for the pics Deb! (actually she doesn't know I stole 'em yet ). Well hope you like 'em!!
**Sorry but pictures will come later...I was having a lot of trouble loading them on**
